My Review of the Mattel Jurassic World Legacy Collection Tyrannosaurus Rex and Baby Tyrannosaurus Rex

If you’re a fan of The Lost World: Jurassic Park, you know that the bond between the parent Rex and its infant is one of the most iconic parts of the film. Today, we’re looking at a standout set from the Mattel Jurassic World Legacy Collection that brings this duo to your shelf.

The “Extreme Chompin” Parent

This T-Rex is essentially a fresh take on the popular Extreme Chompin’ mold. While it’s slightly smaller and more crouched than the mainline T-Rex figures, it makes up for it with great playability:

  • Biting Action: A classic feature where the jaw and tongue move together for a realistic “chomp.”
  • Articulation: Solid movement in the neck and arms for dynamic posing.
  • Battery-Free: There are no electronics here. This is actually a plus for long-term collectors, as you don’t have to worry about old batteries corroding and ruining the figure over time.

The Star of the Show: The Baby Rex

The real gem of this set is the Baby T-Rex. This little guy was overlooked by toy manufacturers for years, making his inclusion here a major win. While his yellowish paint isn’t 100% screen-accurate, he features a clever mechanic: push his tail down, and his mouth snaps shut!

The Verdict

Because this was a limited release, it has become a highly sought-after, rare set. It captures the nostalgia of the 1997 sequel perfectly. If you ever spot this pair at a reasonable price, I recommend grabbing them. They are a great addition to any Jurassic Park collection!
