If you are a fan of Jurassic Park III, you know that the male Velociraptors with their distinct quills and striking colors are some of the most iconic designs in the franchise. Today, we’re looking at the Jurassic World Amber Collection Male Velociraptor by Mattel, and it might just be the best version ever made.
Size and Scale
While the newer Hammond Collection is popular, the Amber Collection stands out because it’s a 6-inch scale figure. This larger size allows Mattel to squeeze in an incredible amount of detail that smaller figures simply can’t match.
Screen-Accurate Detail
The head sculpt is the real star here, it looks like it jumped straight off the screen. Mattel nailed the proportions, and they even included the signature “rubbery feathers” on the head, a unique feature specific to the JP3 raptors.
Intricate Paint and Articulation
The coloration on this figure is surprisingly complex. The designers didn’t hold back, capturing the red transitions on the tail, hands, and feet, along with the white stripe and subtle blue specks. These details perfectly mimic the “intricate” look from the movie.
The Verdict
Whether you’re a collector who wants a centerpiece for your shelf or someone who loves highly posable figures, this Raptor is a winner. It is highly articulable, looks stunning on display, and is easily one of my favorites in the Amber Collection line.
