My Review of the Jurassic Park Electronic Real Feel Tyrannosaurus Rex

If you grew up in the early 90s, the original Kenner Jurassic Park toy line probably holds a special place in your heart. Today, we’re looking at Mattel’s tribute to that era: the ’93 Classic Tyrannosaurus Rex.

From the moment you see it, the nostalgia hits hard. Mattel didn’t just make a dinosaur; they recreated an experience.

Retro Packaging

The box art is a direct throwback to 1993, featuring the iconic red-to-yellow gradient and jungle foliage. To me, the packaging is so spot-on that it’s worth keeping it mint-in-box.

Authentic Features

While some modern dinosaurs feel a bit too “plasticky,” Mattel brought back the “Real Feel” rubberized skin for this T-Rex. It’s modeled after the original Stan Winston maquette, making it incredibly screen-accurate.

Key highlights include:

  • The Look: A paint scheme featuring those classic dark brown stripes.
  • The Sound: An impressive, high-quality roar that sounds like it jumped right off the film strip.
  • The Teeth: Sharper, more detailed, and perfectly fitted to the skull compared to older versions.

The Verdict

Whether you’re comparing it to the 1990s Lost World line or the newest releases, this T-Rex stands out. It bridges the gap between a high-quality collectible and a fun, playable toy.

If you’re a lifelong fan of the franchise or a collector looking to recapture that 1993 magic, this T-Rex is a must-have. It’s a beautiful piece of history that proves some things really do get better with age!
