My Review of the Mattel Jurassic World Super Colossal Brachiosaurus

If you thought your dinosaur collection was complete, you have to check out this Jurassic World Super Colossal Brachiosaurus from Mattel. Let me tell you: the name is not an exaggeration.

This thing is massive. To give you an idea of the scale, I stood a standard Dr. Malcolm figure next to its leg, and Ian looks like an ant:

I actually had a hard time even getting the whole dinosaur into the camera frame!

Movie-Accurate Detail

What’s really cool is that Mattel uses 3D modeling for these figures, importing actual CG models from the movies. Because of that, the skin texture and proportions are spot-on.

  • The Head & Neck: The head and neck are removable (which is great for shipping or moving), and the jaw is fully articulable.
  • The Stance: While the head can move up and down. In my opinion, it looks best kept upright. Just like the classic Brachiosaurus silhouette we all know from the films.
  • Movement: The legs move forward and backward, and the tail has a nice side-to-side range of motion.

Is It For Collectors or Kids?

Honestly? Both. As an adult collector, it’s an incredible display piece that commands attention in any room. But if you have kids, be prepared. My toddlers go absolutely wild with it. They’re constantly grabbing the neck and my daughter loves letting out a “Rah!”. It’s sturdy enough to handle some serious prehistoric playtime, but detailed enough to look like a high-end model on a shelf.

If you have the floor space (and you’re going to need it!), I highly recommend adding this gentle giant to your herd. It’s a total showstopper.
