If you are a fan of The Lost World: Jurassic Park, you likely remember the breathtaking sight of the Parasaurolophus herds. Today, we are diving into the Hammond Collection version of this iconic large herbivore. Part of Mattel’s 3.75 inch collector’s line, this figure is a masterclass in blending high-end detail with the “fun factor” of a traditional action figure.

Movie-Accurate Detail
The first thing that grabs you is the paint application. Mattel really nailed the aesthetic from the second film, featuring:
- Distinct Striping: Beautiful dark stripes running all the way down the back and onto the legs.
- Intricate Speckling: Realistic skin patterns across the rib cage that make the figure feel alive.
- Scale: When placed next to a standard 3.75 inch human figure, the Parasaurolophus looks appropriately massive, capturing the majestic presence of a prehistoric giant.
Hyper-Articulation
The Hammond Collection is famous for its movement, and this dinosaur doesn’t disappoint. It features hyper-articulation in the knees, elbows, shoulders, and joints, allowing for a wide variety of lifelike poses.
One of the coolest features is the wire-insert tail. Because it has internal metal wiring, you can bend and curve the tail in any direction to balance the figure or create a sense of motion. Plus, the articulated jaw allows the mouth to open and close, perfect for bellowing at the rest of your collection.
To Unbox or Not to Unbox?
The beauty of this line is the price point. While the packaging looks professional enough for “in-box” collectors, these figures are affordable enough that you won’t feel guilty breaking them out. They are meant to be handled, posed, and displayed prominently.
The Verdict
Whether you want a peaceful herbivore to round out your diorama or a high-quality piece of movie history, the Hammond Collection Parasaurolophus is an easy recommendation.
