If you grew up in the 90s, there is one cinematic image burned into your brain: a rain-drenched Ford Explorer, a pair of night-vision goggles, and a T-Rex. The Jurassic World Legacy Collection T-Rex Escape Pack isn’t just a toy set. To me, this is a toy that captures the nostalgia of an iconic movie moment perfectly.

The Iconic Tour Vehicle
The star of the show (besides the dinosaur, of course) is the Ford Explorer. This is arguably one of the best versions of the tour vehicle ever released. Unlike many toy cars where the interior is an afterthought, this one is well-adorned with a detailed dash and seats.
A standout feature is that all the doors actually open, allowing for maximum playability. Just a heads-up for the collectors: the plastic roof is designed to “cave in” to simulate the Rex’s attack, so it can be a little temperamental if the kids get a bit too “extreme” during playtime.
Perfectly Scaled Characters
The set includes a rare Tim Murphy figure, complete with his signature night-vision goggles. What makes this set special is the commitment to scale. Tim is appropriately small compared to the massive T-Rex, making the “escape” feel much more realistic when you’re posing them together.
The Extreme Chompin T-Rex
The T-Rex itself uses the popular Extreme Chompin mold but features a unique, darker paint application. This palette swap perfectly mimics the nighttime atmosphere of the original film scene.
Key Features of the Rex:
- Articulated Neck: Great for posing the head at menacing angles.
- Chomping Action: Essential for recreating the attack on the vehicle.
- Full Mobility: Articulated legs and a moving tail for stable posing.
The Verdict
Whether you’re buying this for a child who loves dinosaurs or you’re an “adult kid” looking to spruce up your shelf, it’s a the perfect fun, high-quality tribute to the movie that started it all.
